Children Bring Sunshine to Brindishe Green School

Monday 26 September 2011 at 12:53

Children from Brindishe Green School in Lewisham have been fundraising by walking the length of their Make A Splash temporary swimming pool, as part of the Variety Club, the Children’s Charity, first ever national school’s fundraising event.

Events kicked off on the Monday 19th September at 9.30am with a special assembly dedicated to Sunshine Week. The children then undertook a sponsored challenge of walking the length of the English Channel in the pool during the week.

They join schools from all across the UK who will be taking part in the week and helping to raise funds to help improve the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children all over the country.

The fun and educational activities are aimed at children aged 5-13 and cover aspects of the National Curriculum Key Stages 1 & 2. Sunshine Week hopes to promote awareness of children who need the support of their communities and promote children’s emotional and social development.

Sarah Gorbutt, Associate Headteacher at Brindishe Green School said “We are delighted to be part of Variety Club’s Sunshine Week. The children are excited at this fantastic opportunity and we hope that the money raised will go some way to helping disadvantaged and disabled children across the UK.”
