London Ready to Make a Splash Again!

Saturday 02 April 2011 at 15:31

Following the successful first year of Make a Splash in 2009 - 2010, which delivered 6 mobile pools projects and encouraged over 5,000 people into the water, the programme is back once again for 2011 - 2013!

Total Swimming will take over management of the programme, as well as providing the temporary, 'pop-up' pools, delivering 12 projects in boroughs across London in the run up to and beyond the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has personally endorsed the impact of the programme, stating 'Swimming is a fantastic sport, great exercise and also wonderful fun. Yet finding a place to swim is not as simple as going out for a jog. We've taken the plunge with Make a Splash and as it streamed across the capital, thousands more Londoners - whatever their age, novice or otherwise - are able to practice their strokes'.

Once again the Make a Splash programme is delivered in partnership between the Mayor of London with Total Swimming, the Variety Club, MWB Business Exchange, London Swimming and the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).

Total Swimming is now actively seeking locations for delivering Make a Splash from 2011 - 2013. If you would like your area to take part, please contact us through this website.
